Biography

Dr. Tom, as his students call him, is the Speech and Debate Coach at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Coaching for 35 years, he has coached numerous national championship students. He is also partnered with his wife Gaylen in building the companies Creative Communication and CelebratingArt. These two companies work with art and language art teachers across the nation in selecting the best pieces to publish in regional anthologies.  Tom has a passion for teaching and performing and will often visit elementary and middle schools to entertain classes and whole schools with his storytelling.  He also edited the book "Broken Hearts Healing:  Young Poets Speak Out on Divorce." This book is used by school counselors and parents to help young children cope with the changes divorce creates in their lives. Dr. Tom lives in Smithfield, Utah with his wife and two children.
